Re: What's left of the 2017 baseball season

Tigers announced Brad Ausmus will not return as manager for 18. In the same vein, the Mets have implied Terry Collins will retire after the season.

About time.

Re: What's left of the 2017 baseball season

Something like 1,700 people a year get hit with foul balls. And, when you buy a ticket you waive you're right to sue. That's why netting hasn't happened across the board yet - it's not costing any money to not have it.

I think you'll see most teams have it heading into 18, though.

Re: What's left of the 2017 baseball season

Not sure if anyone saw it but apparently 2 nights ago a young girl (not sure of age - 5 maybe?) took a 105 mph foul ball off the face. Todd Frazier hit it and it just popped off his back and bam. It came in at like 6/10th of a second. The idea that "people have to pay attention" when a bal...

Re: What's left of the 2017 baseball season

Regarding the ball, I've read where several pitchers have said that they feel the height of the seams on the ball have changed and that is causing a big change. I have no idea if it's happening or even makes sense. I think Verlander was one of the guys going off about this, but he's a known complain...

Re: 2017 Team Thread

Prior to that article I was not aware that a) he was from western PA and b) his wife is from the central PA area and her family still lived there. I assumed him leaving was a given but now I'm not so sure. If he continues to have this kind of success I'd think that, eventually, he moves on, but mayb...

Re: Random Thoughts

Saw that following the hurricane, parts of Puerto Rico may not have power for six months!.

So, basically PR is now in the 19th century. That's just incredible. Really feel for those people.

Re: What's left of the 2017 baseball season

The thing about Stanton is that he's been a big power hitter since he first came up. He was drafted with the belief he was going to be a big slugger. It's not like he's Brady Anderson who was a solid 20 HR a year guy and then once day shows up looking like the Incredible Hulk and hits 50. It does no...

Re: What's left of the 2017 baseball season

I was thinking something similar. I was looking at his stats earlier this morning and you can sort of see the years he was a little worried about it. He wears that full face guard when he faces righty pitchers so that may help. But, it really takes a lot of sack to dig back into the batters box afte...

Re: What's left of the 2017 baseball season

Chris Sale with 300K on the season. That guy is a machine.

And Stanton is chasing the Marris mark for homeruns. He's at 56 right now and, as far as anyone knows, is doing it without any artificial enhancements.
