Re: Politics

Oh, the other relevant point is the Jones victory brings us closer to even more gridlock. After the midterms the federal government should be in a total standstill for at least 2 years, which is just spiffy from my perspective.

Re: Politics

Maybe. Maybe not. I think Alabama electing a Democrat to the Senate because of credible, but unproven, allegations could be a big deal. I agree it likely does not change behavior but it does signal that voters are less likely to ignore that behavior. A single event is not proof of anything, but the ...

Re: Politics

What is your point? That because Ted Kennedy was never held accountable no one else should ever be? Or is it that a valid defense to charges of child molestation is "someone else said something stupid"? For the guy who likes to claim he's totally logic driven you are awfully quick to fall ...

Re: Politics

No, not because of national consequences. Because 8 women who say he basically tried to have sex with them when they were in their teens, some below the legal limit, and at least one retired cop saying she was told to keep him away from cheerleaders should matter. That's why.

Re: Politics

There are some fairly credible accusations against Moore. It would be nice if that had a consequence. And, that's what's in play here. But for the accusations of him molesting teenage girls when he was a DA this is probably a blowout in his favor.

Re: Politics

The night of the 2016 election, at about 9 PM, The New York Times said on their online tracker that they were predicting Trump would win. They based it on what precincts had already reported to that point and what past history said about the outstanding results. They were the first to say Trump woul...

Re: Politics

I would argue that a chunk of people in union jobs are not held accountable when they should be held accountable. No one dies from a union mishap, though. Btw, my wife would agree with you on the lack of accountability unions can create. She HATES the teachers unions and can't stand the whole tenur...

Re: 2017-18 baseball off season

Wakefield threw a knuckleball. Not really the same thing. As for your Padres comment, I don't think notoriety is really the point. Harvey was that good when he came up, regardless of whether or not people knew about it. It's a moot point. He's had two major surgeries now and it seems unlikely he wil...

Re: 2017-18 baseball off season

That's funny. I guess my grandparents were scientists. Who knew? And, Harvey played on some very bad teams before he got hurt. He lost a lot of 1 and 2 run games. His first couple of years he looked as good as anyone who ever played the game. He was throwing in the high 90s with good movement. His f...
