I'm not sure that method is really less valid than what the "experts" do.

Re: Random Thoughts Again

Maybe not so much advance her career as not hurt it. You go to trial and you lose, that's a strike against you. You lose too many cases you won't be employed for very long. DA's like to have prosecturos that win. My guess is they are subtley encouraged not to joust at windmills and take moral stands...

Re: Random Thoughts Again

There's something going on that I don't understand. I don't think it's really that confusing. I may be off on this but my sense is the DA didn't want to go to trial on something they were not sure they could win. I have no doubt this was not a slam dunk. They probably both had been drinking, the gu...

Re: Random Thoughts Again

It's unethical to bring a case where you don't believe in good faith in the person's guilt. That was the problem with the Duke Lacrosse case. It wasn't just that the DA didn't have a strong case. It's that he knew the girl was most likely lying, had a bunch of exculpatory evidence, sat on all that a...

Re: Random Thoughts Again

That is certainly what the DA is is saying now. And, my point is that they were better off losing in court than letting him just walk away with this. At least, if they had a victim willing to testify - and they did - they were better off losing in court. Sometimes it's as much about the journey as i...

Blue Jays cut Troy Tulowitzki and are eating $34M of that contract. So, that deal worked out well.

Apparently Trump told Reuters that he's close to a trade deal with China. I guess we will see.

Re: Random Thoughts Again

I was just reading more about the former fraternity president at Baylor who got that plea deal. The victim's impact statement is pretty crushing. You can read it here. . That's pretty egregious that the DAs who prosecuted the case did not even show up. I don't blame the victim for being angry. And, ...

Re: 2018 Baseball OffseasonThread

Phillies signed Andrew McCutchen for 3 years at $50M. He should have something left in the tank and that park should help his power numbers. I think that's a good signing for the Phillies.
