Re: Random Thoughts Again

He does that and nothing happens.

There probably would have been no point in fining him. I doubt he had any income to speak of. But I should have been compensated. Some things can't be unseen.

Re: Random Thoughts Again

Speaking of nothing in particular, I just checked the mail. As per usual, several pieces of junk. I should just replace the mail box with a recycling bin. There is a national Do Not Call registry operated by the FTC to prevent telemarketing calls. What isn't there a Do Not Mail registry?

Re: Random Thoughts Again

Pretty sweet. Years ago, I witnessed a guy playing with himself in a subway station. I didn't get squat.

Re: 2018 Baseball Season

Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that a willingness to take direction from the metrics guys was a factor in hiring Cora. When the last manager was fired, some local baseball writers were speculating that Dave Dombrowksi might try to talk Jim Leyland out of retirement. That's why they're base...

Re: 2018 Baseball Season

I presume that's why the Red Sox hired Cora. I can't believe it was because of a CV that included just one year as a bench coach. The only Red Sox manager in my life time who comes close to that little prior experience is Butch Hobson in the early 90s. He was the same age as Cora, but he was at leas...

Re: 2018 Baseball Season

Teams with low payrolls and a big disadvantage using metrics and unconventional methods to win is absolutely great for baseball. It's probably not just low payroll teams. Some people believe there's a trend associated with recent manager hires that have involved younger guys with little experience....

Re: Web-based insurance

I went to the Progressive web site to get a price quote. I was surprised at how much info they had access to. Just based on my name and address, they knew what cars I owned, they knew I was currently insured by MetLife and they knew my current coverage. I guess insurance companies share this info? T...

Web-based insurance

I'm changing my auto insurance (long story) when my current policy comes up for renewal in July. Does anyone have experience with web-based insurance companies like Progressive or Geico?

Re: 2018 Baseball Season

Bill James has always had a problem with the way managers user their Ace closers. He thinks bringing them in to preserve a 3-run lead in the 9th is a waste of resources. He believes it would be better for the manager to pick a more crucial time to use them. For instance, the 8th inning of a 2-2 tie ...

Re: Random Thoughts Again

Bernie Sanders' wife is out of work, now that her private college is kaput. Maybe they should have hired her.
