Re: Random Thoughts Again

Well. you and Nat are going to pay for it. Lama and I will be spending our SS checks on Tommy Bahama shirts and lap dances. So there's that. I was fortunate, to the extent that laying out 200K+ total for two kids is fortunate, I had a lot of equity in my home and mortgage rates dipped the Summer bef...

Re: Random Thoughts Again

I wasn't expecting the Feds to GIVE me anything. But I naively thought that after decades of bending me over my desk every April 15th and having their way with me, they would at least offer me a loan to cover tuition. And I would have faithfully paid it back with interest. Instead. they offered a $1...

Re: 2018 Baseball Season

Several years ago, I saw a very good documentary on the Brooklyn Dodgers. As I recall, during the 1940s/1950s they lost the World Series to the Yankees 320 times.

Re: 2018 Baseball Season

So I guess it's the Dodgers. Not exactly shocked. Pitching usually prevails and they have pitching.

Re: Beer and Booze

Anyone else here a cocktail drinker? To the extent I drink cocktails, it most often involves vodka -- a screwdriver or vodka martini. Those are my go-to drinks at social functions where people are drinking cocktails (weddings, etc.). There are also food-specific drinks I enjoy occasionally, like a ...

Re: 2018 Baseball Season

I remember the Dodgers-A's series vividly. And I absolutely was in SoCal at the time. Dates just get jumbled when you reach Old Fart status. There was a funny bit that occurred after that World Series. Orel Hershiser mentioned that he had been using a PC to collect data on opposing hitters. That was...

Re: 2018 Baseball Season

I will be outright shocked if the Dodgers or Brewers beat the Sox. I will be somewhat surprised, but not shocked. The best team doesn't always win. I remember the '84 series vividly because I was in SoCal on business at the time. The A's steamrolled the AL that year and I thought they would steamro...

Re: 2018 Baseball Season

If they're going to give anyone a Thank You gift, it's going to be the Astro's pitching staff. Twenty runs in three games. In your own park. Talk about crapping your pants. And I changed my mind about rooting for the Brewers. You'll probably jinx them. I think you should wear your Sandy Koufax jerse...

Re: 2018 Baseball Season

I need everyone to root for my second-favorite team (the Brewers). Ideally, that series goes 7 games and both games go into extra innings.
