Re: Random Thoughts Again

Hopefully it's the same for you!

No. It's not the same.

Maybe I'll just go with a Mohawk. That seems simple enough. And then I probably wouldn't have to attend any more meetings.

Re: Random Thoughts Again

Major catastrophe. My barber of 40 years cancelled an appointment a couple of weeks ago. His daughter (who runs the place now) told me his bad knee was killing him and he had to go home. So I call today to make another appointment and I'm told he had knee replacement surgery and will be out a couple...

Re: Random Thoughts Again

Sounds like they were a great company to work for. All things considered, they were. They paid their people very well and gave them interesting work to do. But they expected them to produce (or else). There weren't a lot of older guys there. The pressure to meet deadlines was exciting when you're 2...

Re: Random Thoughts Again

My parents wanted me to be a teacher.

So did mine. Based on stories my SIL (a teacher) tells me, I made the right choice. Right about now, I'd probably be finishing up a long prison sentence for tossing a student out a window.

Re: Random Thoughts Again

So, ratted you out and got you a raise. I bet you have never forgiven him. I don't believe that was his intention. One co-worker I confided in told me that the headhunter, having lost me as a client, could have been trying to ingratiate himself with my company by giving them a heads up on an employ...

Re: Random Thoughts Again

Back in the Olden Days (pre-internet) hiring a "headhunter" was a pretty common way to find a job. They did the legwork and set you up with interviews. I used one once. I SPECIFICALLY told him to contact me before contacting any company on my behalf. I was looking for a job on the sly and ...

Re: 2018 NFL Season

How many days to spring training?

The 2019 Spring Training reporting dates are still TBA. But give or take a few days, pitchers and catchers should be reporting around 2/13/2019 and the other players a week later. So. just 5 months. Practically the blink of an eye.

Re: Florence

We never got these massive storms like NJ has been hit with the past few years. Sure we did. You're just not old enough to remember them. There was a massive hurricane that clobbered New England in the 1930s (before hurricanes were named). Hundreds of people were killed. And one in the 1950s (Carol...

Re: 2018 NFL Season

I heard that someone on the Bills "retired" at halftime, Just got dressed and left the building. “He didn’t say nothing to nobody”, according to a team mate. Not a scrub, either. A starting DB. I don't remember his name, but he's my new favorite player. Take this job and shove it I ain't w...

Re: Florence

I have mixed feelings about this. Part of me hopes the climate scientists are wrong, because we haven't got the political will or money to do any meaningful about it anyways and the long-term consequences sound dire. Part of me me hopes the climate scientists are right because I support the scientif...
