Sad News

I don't know it this news has been posted elsewhere but I just learned that a former board member, moderator and friend, AkronLion passed away last Sunday. He and I used to have a great rapport on this board and after moving to Ahia we visited him and his wife in their home north of Akron. Wonderful...

Re: How many national championships would Joe Paterno had won if he had the playoff system?

An interesting asside to the 1979 Sugar Bowl NC vs Alabama. Bama scored a TD with a pass to the back of the end zone just before halftime as I remember. The following day a TV station in PIttsburgh, Channel 4 (a big Pitt fan station), showed a different angle from a TV camera not shown on game day. ...

Re: Wrestling

I discovered this article that was posted at BSD on wrestling stats as extended to a data point e.g. total minutes of a match or takedowns per match, etc. Of interest to wrestling-centric fans. https://www.blackshoediaries.com/2019/3/5/18249273/penn-state-wrestling-phat-mat-stats-statistics-lemonpie...

Re: These are a few more of my favorite peeves

I awoke at 4:00 a.m to see 3 degrees on my weather monitor. Daily the temp drops prior to daybreak due to convection, yesterday it dropped 3 degrees, too cold for March and tomorrow is predicted to be the same. Our weather station I so carefully placed three years ago blew off the mount last Sunday,...

Re: How many national championships would Joe Paterno had won if he had the playoff system?

I'd like to agree with the above posters but PSU would have had to have been in the top four prior to the bowl season to be chosen. That was all done by voting, the most subjective form of choice there is. I have little doubt that the votes would not have fallen in our favor and being #5 or 6 would ...

Re: Random Thoughts Again

Success! I have avoided watching the "news" at different intervals only to seen enough to raise my BP. I dropped by and read all the hub bub over Mr. Northram, apparently a governor although I only glean that from info on this thread. I have no idea who this man is or what the problem he i...

Re: Epilogue to the 2018 Penn State Season

Shane, I'm in agreement with your thoughts. 2018 was potentially a transitional year but W-L column began a bit better than expected so hopes were buoyed only to diminish later in the season. Next year we only have to replace our 3 yr. starting QB and a few other departing starters! ? ! ;) The talen...

Re: Urban Meyer retiring

Urban didn't retire, he changed jobs. He is not lecturing at OSU!

His class is titled something like, Character & Leadership.

Remarkable, the arrogance never ends.
