Re: Politics

A line from one of my favorite movies seems appropriate: President Andrew Shepherd: Leon, somewhere in Libya right now, a janitor's working the night shift at Libyan Intelligence Headquarters. He's going about doing his job... because he has no idea, in about an hour he's going to die in a massive e...

Re: Politics

I didn’t say it was right or wrong. Just that this is nothing new.

Re: Politics

Crazy developments to be sure. I don’t think this kind of reporting is anything new. Reporters have been able to pull classified information from those in the know before, and with an inexperienced and arguably less than stable commander in chief, someone felt this was worth letting the public know.

Re: Politics

Right. After saying they made a big mistake or were in big trouble, whatever it was, he said that he did t think they meant to do it. I interpreted that to mean they accidentally shot it down. Not likely. Then I realized he is saying this was akin to some rogue action rather than sanction by whomeve...

Re: Politics

I read that the NYT reported that Trump isn’t interested in a war with Iran. I forget how Habermann (I think that’s her name) worded it, but I suppose it is a good thing. The confusing part is that he hired a chicken hawk in Bolton, who really seems like he is ramping up for a conflict.

Re: The Ongoing New Financial Era Thread

My retirement take home is around 1500, after all the deductions. A retiree at 20 years gets 50% of their base pay. If you stay longer, you add 2.5% per year maxing at 75%. But there are high year tenure limits for the different ranks/pay grades. As an E-6, I had to retire at 20 years. Of course, sh...

Re: The Ongoing New Financial Era Thread

My retirement savings is frighteningly low, probably in the range of 15K between a few 401(k) plans for the wife and I who are both in our fifties. On the bright side, assuming I love to a ripe old age, I get $1500 per month pension for having served two decades in the Navy. I may not have food or e...

Re: College: attending, paying for, etc.

Congrats, B-Dub! I is good and bad watching your child grow up and move on, but necessary as well. And, as much as this pains me to say, dad is right!

Re: Politics

Fulitol is a favorite of mine. I wash it down with a good lager. That said, I read where someone I. The administration, not sure if it was Bolton or Pompeo or some other asshat, but the cat was essentially claiming that POTUS doesn’t need approval from Congress anymore. Something to do with post 9-1...

Re: Other Sports

I watched the first half of game 7 before dozing off on the couch. The Blues goalie was playing lights out! I did t have a dog in the fight, but tend to lean towards teams that haven’t been there when it’s a factor. As for the USWNT I the World Cup, I have no issues wit the margin of victory or the ...
