Re: Politics

The thing is, people’s opinions are formed by what they think they know. Sadly, that comes from movies and tv rather that real life. The good guys never miss in Hollywood. I have fired a shotgun, 9mm and M-16 during my military career. The handgun is, by far, the least accurate (unless it’s in you l...

Re: Politics

The problem, aside with what I believe is a massive opposition from the teachers, is that you just don’t become a security force. I mean, this isn’t a movie or something. The best analogy o can make deals with my son’s band director. He also plays clarinet in a damn good(but not symphony level) conc...

Re: Random Thoughts Again

The problem with this debate (in general, not here) is that opposing sides have no intention of compromise. One suggests legislation to restrict, say AR-15’s and the other hear the word ‘ban’ and replies that criminals will get guns anyway. So, how about we turn the same conversation to immigrations...

Re: Politics

Sorry if this gets long, I have been swamped at work and haven’t commented in a little while... You know my wife teaches elementary kids. I assume Nat and Grower have similar experiences, but she had a child ask her what they are really supposed to do if someone comes into their school and is she go...

Re: The NCAA is a complete joke

So, I still tune in to ESPN radio on the drive to or from work if something is going on in sports or the classic rock station is playing junk. Mike Golkc and company were discussing what a travesty the evacuation of wins and any other penalties levied against the school that really only hurts curren...

Re: Random Thoughts Again

The problem isn't background checks. The problem is the availability of military grade weapons to a civilian population who doesn't need them. I understand that, and more or less agree. My gripe with background checks are the loopholes that exist at gun shows and second hand sales, but maybe that i...

Re: Random Thoughts Again

I think it's safe to assume that MA is much bluer than red, politically and that is why there is far less NRA influence there. I suppose your point is valid, that people buy them because they want them. But I knew plenty of fine young men who became gun enthusiasts by nature of political affiliation...

Re: The NCAA is a complete joke

My understanding of the new rule requires one or two days of rest. This means the athlete cannot be at the team facility for any reason, which I see as a bit extreme but can grasp the reasoning. Because Saturdays are a designated day of rest for football, the current team members could not go to the...

Re: Random Thoughts Again

I had assumed that it had already gone to SCOTUS. Not living there anymore, I haven't paid as close attention as I used to. And Newt is In the news again. He said we need armed teacher (6-8 per school) and more perimeter security measures. I assume this means metal detectors and barbed wire fences. ...

Re: Random Thoughts Again

PA had a bit of a gerrymandering issue that, I think, has been addressed. I'm not sure if it was corrected, but it was addressed. Of course, the President tweeted out that GOP form the Great State of PA should challenge the new districts to SCOTUS; like that hasn't already happened. As for Congress ...
