Re: 2018 Baseball Season

I'm in Seattle on a week's vacation and the Mariners are out of town. My wife and I are seeing Pearl Jam Wednesday and Friday at SafeCo. Just the baseball break I need.

Re: 2018 Preseason Thread

No. I mean kickoffs. And you could always fair catch a kickoff, it's just that nobody did. Well sometimes an "up" man would do it on a real short kick. Since when? A kick off is a live ball. I've never heard of a kick off having a "fair catch". Lion - if you take it from where y...

Re: College Sports Scandals

Meyer is saying he reported an incident from 2015. Smith was fired like 6 weeks ago, and only after a public court hearing. So, OSU has a potential PR disaster on their hands, even if everyone met their legal thresholds. That's the problem for them. If they get rid of Meyer they will still have to p...

Re: College Sports Scandals

I didn't think that was even alleged, though. The question is did his wife tell him? And, he says he knew and he properly reported it. But, whether or not he knew about the allegations of abuse is not in question - he says he did. So, I'm not following the track here. The question, I think, is will ...

Re: College Sports Scandals

We don't have to guess. Meyer says he knew and reported it.

Re: College Sports Scandals

I do feel Mayer and his wife were in a damned if you do, damned if you don't spot - based on what I've read Smith's wife was confiding in Mayer's wife but also saying she did want to press the issue through the legal system. I don't know what she expected Mayer to do - he's a football coach - not t...

Re: 2018 Preseason Thread

Wait. Since when can you fair catch on a kick off? I assume you mean punts, and not kick offs. And, If it reduces injuries, then I'm all for it. I think these kids are seriously taken advantage of, so anything that makes the game safer for them I am all for.

Re: College Sports Scandals

You may hope there is an honest assessment but you just indicated you're not going to believe there is if he stays. Which is the problem for OSU. Which is why I think he's out. But, the rush to conclude has me second guessing it. We will see. I still think the expectations and focus is being placed ...

Re: College Sports Scandals

OSU says it will complete it investigation within 14 days. I'm not sure what the starting point is but it sounds like they are going to reach a decision prior to the start of the football season. My guess is the majority of people have formed an opinion on what should or should not happen based sole...

Re: College Sports Scandals

I have no idea what will happen but I'm not sure following the letter of the law is going to matter. If it comes out that he basically kept a known spouse abuser on the coaching staff there may be an uproar that forces OSU to act. And, unless there is clear, indisputable evidence he met his legal ob...
