That statement by the Giants BOD fell short of "we absolutely want him back".

Way, way, way short. It was just shy of "dont let the door hit ya on the way out".

Things aren't go so well for Tom Terrific.

:(

That sucks. My grandmother suffered from dimentia the last ~10 years of her life. My dad felt like he lost her long before she died. And, it was very dificult to be around her. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I think I'd rather be diagnosed with late stage cancer than dimentia. Alzheimers and similar afflictions kill you twice - first your brain and then, if you're lucky, you die. If you're not lucky you can languish for years. And, jeez, what it does to families to have to deal with that.

Adam Jones signed a 1 year deal with the Diamondbacks. Reports have it at $3M. Guy is only 33. I'm shocked he can only get a 1 year deal with no options and for only $3M. That's messed up. In 2018 he batted .281, hit 15 HRs and knocked in 63 RBIs. And, that was on a really shitty Baltimore team. His home run numbers are way down, but he can still play. He's not a center fielder anymore but he can still play the corners. He can still make it as a starting outfielder. So, 1 year for $3M? That doesn't sound right to me.

My best guess is he was desperate to leave Baltimore. If that was the case, can you blame him?

I'm not sure what that comment means. He was a free agent. He had been looking for a job since the season ended. It had nothing to do with leaving Baltimore. And, he actually exercised his "no trade" clause last July to prevent being traded away from Baltimore. So, I'm not following the comment.

His contract expired in Baltimore (he was at $17MM) and they were not going to bring him back for rebuild. Actually I believe he wanted to stay there as he is pretty deeply embedded in the community - he actually declined a trade to Phils in the stretch run. There may have been better offers form him but I get impression that finances aren't the sole driver for him. Maybe he's setting himself to retire to a more temperate climate. Strikes as a good guy and good clubhouse guy though.
