Well, if the goal was to keep Trout at any cost, they succeeded. That is an insane amount of money.

Yes. It's obviously going to cost extra to get a guy like Trout to pass up FA ... but damn.

In fairness, I wouldn't either if I were offered that kind of money.

Hey Shore and Lama

Evidentally the O's starting middle infield this season are going to be two Rule 5 draft picks who have never played a day above AA ball. Richie Martin will man short and Drew Jackson is playing 2nd. And, because they are Rule 5 picks, if the O's send them down during the season they lose them. They have to spend the entire season with the Big Club. So, if you want to know how the O's plan to do this year, there is your answer.

In their defense, both of these kids are high ceiling prospects. I guess the O's figure that it was worth taking them in the Rule 5 draft and putting them out there for the year and let them learn and grow. They have to have low expectations and hopefully they live up to their potential. Martin is a former 1st round pick for the A's and Jackson was a 5th round pick for the Mariners. So, there is potential upside to these kids. But, man, I would expect another tough year for the O's.

I guess another perk of moving south is not having easy accesss to MASN so I won't see many O's games. Even having that potential horror show on in the background in the evenings would be rough.

On the plus side, so what you're saying is that if I have a another good year on the softball field I might get a call up to the big club in September. So there's that.

By the way, I don't think Jackson is going to be starting. They were trying him in the outfield yesterday.

I read he was starting but that doesn't mean it's true. Spring stories are wrong all the time. But, he's on the roster or he's not an Oriole so they will have to figure something out.

dad - that was on AMC the other day.

Too high? How can it be too high?
