I firmly believe the MSM has a role in getting Trump elected. For sure in the primaries where he was always front and nearly center in those mass varsity debates. Maybe the feel guilty over that. In reality, they talk about him so much because it results in ratings and clicks. As much as I hate that we have a tv star president who seems to care more about ratings that right, that seems to be the reality of the times.

I hear there's a new candidate coming out, Dwayne something, with a massive $$ sponsorship from a big corporation (Brawndo is the name I believe). Maybe that will outshine the current media focus?

Honestly, if my choices are him, Trump or Biden, I'd probably vote Rock.

Please don't let those be my choices

I'm not sure that Dwayne would be much of a downgrade.

Hey, shout-out to Trump, Paul Ryan, and the rest of the asshole Republicans who pushed through this "tax cut". Finished up my taxes owing Uncle Sam a pretty penny.

I know, I'm not the person the tax cut was meant for. A HS teacher making $62k a year is just rolling in it. About time I paid a bit more while corps get the kickback they bought and paid for with lobbying.

Gotta love this country.

Bill Weld is going to challenge Trump for the Republican nomination. I wish him luck, but I think he's gonig to get his ass kicked.

Short of winning, it would be helpful enough if he could garner enough delegates to broadcast a 'not even your own party likes you' message.

Aside from the qualification of not being Trump I'm not sure what his appeal would be - he was on the hot mess 2016 Libertarian ticket as VP and I suspect he just wants another round of laundering money with no expectations of actually being a viable candidate. Much of his post political career has involved lobbying and as a partner in a private equity firm (and for people who dislike exploitive capitalism private equity firms are among the purest form of that cancer).

If you hate DT and you can't get on board with free everything (that most of us will pay for), reparations for drug dealers and restoring Jerry Sandusky's voting rights I suggest backing Howard Schultz. I watched his Town Hall - I wouldn't say I share all of his platforms and he's got some of the empty posturing you'd get from any politicians he seems willing to stay out of Crazy Town.

I think Bernie is old and wise enough gets it that capitalism is the source of wealth and the best system for creating it - and much of his socialist talk is pandering for votes and he would pull back on many of his campaign promises but the younger contingent of socialists have bought in completely to the rhetoric of people like Bernie and their college professors and would take us off the same cliff that Chavez and Maduro have taken Venzuela.

I think the author makes a good point of how parties in other countries have pivoted from promoting a socialist economy to seeking "controlled capitalism" - which I see as pivoting from the authoritarian "crooked commissioner" to trying to get a fair ref who provides a level playing field.
