They say at the end of your life you regret the things that you didn't do more than the things you did. I guess this is just another example.

As the 6th inning unfolded last night, I had a vision of you throwing up into a plastic cup that previously held Yuengling lager.

We bought Yuengling in cans so I just puked on my sandals.

The Mets bullpen ERA for June is around 9. Their motto seems to be "To infinity, and beyond!"

Barring a miracle, their season is probably over. It's not so much their record, it's their allowing an average of 5 runs a game. That makes it virtually impossible to end up with a winning record. You can maybe get by with a per-game RA of 4.5 if you have a great offense, but not 5. They're probably toast, unless their pitchers are currently performing well under their capability. That, I wouldn't know.

The Red Sox are in a similar (but not as severe) situation. They're allowing 4.7 runs a game (vs 4.0 last year). They'e going nowhere if they don't improve on that.

On paper their bullpen is much better than they have pitched. But, to quote Bill Parcells, you are what your record says you are. And, the record says their bullpen sucks ass and I see no evidence it's getting better any time soon.

The Red Sox bullpen has been mediocre, but the main problem has been the starting pitching. Their #5 starter is leading the team in wins (8). None of the top-3 starters (Price, Sale and Porcello) have more than 5. And we're half-way through the season.

--------------------

And speaking of mediocre, the Red Sox score 3 to erase a 2-run deficit in the bottom of the 8th. Then the bullpen (cue the clown music) throws up on its shoes in the 9th and gives the lead back. Thanks for coming and enjoy your evening.

With today's collapse, the Mets bullpen has now blown a lead SEVENTEEN times in the month in June, resulting in 15 losses. And, the month ain't over yet.

Remember when I said the Mets' pen would be a strength this year? Me either.

I think it's time to start the 2019 Baseball Offseason thread.

To quote Cosmo Kramer: "Up here, I'm already gone".

I can't believe I have to watch 3 more months of this debacle.
