And the Red Sox fail to find the endzone on that final drive and fall to the Yankees 17 - 13.

In other news: the ball isn't just juiced. It's turbo charged. And every time Manfred says there is hasn't been any change to the ball he looks like a bigger schmuck than the last time he said it.

That score is fitting. A nice summary of this sorry-ass season. Starting pitcher shelled ... score 13 runs ... and lose.

At least the Mets bullpen was able to blow another lead. You have to love the consistency.

I got a good night's sleep and awoke with a clear mind. And I've decided that (a) I still hate baseball and (b) your fakakta predictions are mostly to blame.

Angles pitcher Tyler Skaggs found dead this morning, I guess in his hotel room. No cause of death has been made public. He was 27. Angles-Rangers came has been cancelled for tonight.

I saw video of Jerry Seinfeld throwing the first pitch at the Mets game (last night?). He almost looked too loose, like he didn't expect it to go well and was just going to have fun with it. But he totally nailed it.

And I still hate baseball.

So, here's a baseball fun fact:

Aaron Judge has played in the league for 3 1/2 years, has come to the plate 1,406 times and has struck out 440 times.

Tony Gwynn played int he league for 20 years, came to the plate 10,232 times and struck out a total of 434 times.

And Aaron Judge is considered an "elite" player by today's standards. Man, the game has really, really changed.

Here's another one. The 1963 Yankees struck out 800 times. The 2019 Yankees, on pace to win well over 100 games, have already struck out 760 times. The game is barely recognizable from my childhood. It's all HRs and Ks. All I see in the evening highlights is HR after HR. No one bothers to stretch a single into a double or a double into a triple. Why bother? Let someone homer the runner in.

I fear MLB has made the same calculation that the NFL did. I think they've both decided that present-day fans don't care about the nuances of either sport. Defensive/field-position struggle? Borrrrring. Around-the-horn double play? Borrrrring. TD passes every two minutes and home runs by the bushel. That's what people want, I guess.

The Mets bullpen had the opportunity to blow their 400th consecutive lead and choked and managed the save and the win. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I sort of liked the consistency of knowing they were going to blow it. Now I don't know what to expect.
