Agreed. I feel there is a litany of high-level issues today that ultimately can be linked back to the decline of civility, tolerance and/or veneration of a-holes and their behavior, and celebration of stupidity.

Yup. I think social media is the biggest reason for this. No one wants to engage in a healthy debate that may, God forbid, help one see the other side of an issue. Everyone just wants cheerleaders to RAH! RAH! RAH! them on. And if you dare offer another POV, Lord help you. Get ready to be called whale poop, or much worse.

Just read a social media site of any political related organization. There's no civil discourse. It's all about who can scream you're a bleeping idiot the loudest. It's sad and embarrassing.

This is more of a First World Problem than a peeve, but I'm throwing it out. My gym doesn't turn the AC high enough in the locker room. I work out in the mornings before work, take a shower there and then get dressed and go to work. But, the problem is it's so damn humid in the locker room it is impossible to dry off.

I get dressed and I look like George Costanza eating his spicy chicken at work.

Don't kid yourself. You'd look like Costanza without a shower too. Plus, the humidity is good for your delicate complexion. You could snap the gym owners non-existent bra to gain attention to the issue. That is far less violent than burning down neighborhoods or calling the President's daughter a c-word.
So I got that going for me...which is nice. It's a cross between Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent and Northern California Sensimilla so you can play 36 holes on it,take it home at night and get stoned to the begesses belt

I suggest showering, drying off a bit, and getting dressed in the lobby. If staff says anything, you can bring it up then.

I didn't know this but apparently pet peeves / issues are communicable through message boards as I experienced a B&Wish flight and WO treatment.

I was flying out of ABE - inbound flight came in on time and someone uttered the dreaded "mechanical problems". Problem enough but I had a 2 hour layover so likely not fatal. Unless, likely due to cost cutting (i.e. customer screwing) measure there are no mechanics on site, they are on call, so the time for a mechanic to show up and then diagnose and fix the issue become indeterminate. And unless they wait just enough time to cancel the flight and offer a shuttle to Philly to ensure you would miss your connection. And unless you get rebooked on another airline and as soon as they issue you a ticket, they post a 4 hour delay on flight which ensures you will miss your connection.

At this point you give up and say "let's try again tomorrow". This time you make it but when you land you can't deboard because the airport is on lockdown due to suspicious package. And then when you finally do make it to your rental car you phone is dinging constantly because there is a manhunt in the area for someone who shot a Sheriff's deputy.

The exclamation point was after a very long day, I decided to work out in hotel gym instead of going to Gold's because it was late - and the AC wasn't working and the room was 81 F. And it was cardio day. FMR.

On another note - in regards to sweating post shower issue - my gym has same issue as the pool / sauna are open and adjacent to showers - locker area ensuring a sub tropical climate. On mornings I do cardio I would finish on treadmill and have same issue B&W described. Then I figured out I had to do more to lower my core temp / skin temp prior to dressing so I wasn't sweating while I dressed. Instead of doing all my lifting pre run I would do 10-20 mins of lifting after my run - enough that I have stopped dripping sweat. Now I like a hot shower as much as anyone, but at the end of my shower I put it on ice cold for a few minutes which lowers my skin / core temp and that seems to take care of the post shower sweats.

Your travel adventure is more of a nightmare than a peeve. But, as frustrating as it is to have delays and cancellations, one thing I don't complain about is when the airline says things have to stop due to mechanical problems. I have no desire to be on a plane with any kind of mechanical issues. So, yes, it's a pain in the ass but it beats dropping out of the sky.

The rest of you trip sounds a Steve Martin movie.

as for the gym, I've started to put the water down to ice cold at the end for that exact reason. Still really humid in the locker room, though.

The mechanical problem was an "is what it is" - the annoying part is they don't have mechanic on site. So aside from the unknown of time to fix the problem you have an unknown of time to get an on call mechanic to the airport. ABE isn't a major airport by American runs flights out of it all day long - and there are other carriers so you would think you could pool that cost.

As for the gym you may also want to ramp down yoga pant appreciation 15-20 mins prior to work out ending. There is a woman at my gym who has a Barbie doll body that wear yoga type pants bottom with sheer sides running the whole length of her body and a work out tops that regularly lose the battle of containing her ample cleavage. It's distracting. mesmerizing and inspirational all at once. She could single handedly put Viagra and Cialis out of business.

I agree with you about having the mechanic on sight. I guess they figure there isn't enough work to justify it, but it's a pain. As for pooling resources, I know mechanics are employees of the individual airlines. They may be concerned about shared liability if one of them messes up. It's a rare problem but a major pain in the rump when it happens. And, yes, not knowing even when they can get someone onsite to look at the problem is a major headache.

On the shower, I'm usually in the gym from 6:30 to 7:30 AM and there are not a lot of people there to begin with. There used to be a few women who provided ample visual stimulation but I rarely see them anymore. It's a missed blessing, I guess.
