Former Philly (and Cub and Ranger) Doug Glanville will be teaching a class at UPenn this coming semester. Thought that was interesting.

The course description for his class states that "students will learn to evaluate the patterns and strategies that athletes have employed to elevate an issue" by looking at case studies, current events and empirical evidence. His class will also tackle current issues such as the activism among many National Football League players, spearheaded by former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who chose not to stand during the National Anthem as protest against racial injustice in the U.S.

Must be nice to be so rich that you can piss away 50-large a year in tuition for that.

A colleague of mine has his kid at UPenn and he told me he's pissing away a whole lot more than $50k/yr. He's looking at closer to $65k/yr.

I said 50-large in tuition.

Harvard is about 50-large in tuition and another 19-large for room&board and other miscellaneous costs. I'm sure Penn is similar. I have no problem believing your colleague is putting out 65k.

I think the Mets just found the answer to the question of "who will play first base next year?"

SCORE!

I certainly hope so, given that he's trying to make a comeback at age 53.

Dee Gordon traded to Mariners. Didn't see what the Marlins got in return.

Rumors have Stanton going to the Giants, but I've not seen that he's waived his no-trade clause yet so who knows.

I still can't wrap my mind around the fact that the NY Yankees have hired a manager who:

(1) Has zero managing (or even coaching) experience, and
(2) Is married to a former Playboy Playmate whose "goodies" can be perused by anyone who wishes to peruse them.

It's a new world.

Well at least he didn't go 58-81 in his only managerial escapade. And he wasn't born in Hollywood. And he probably doesn't use coconut oil to...
