So, the government is in a partial shutdown (some factions, like DoD, are funded based on a previous resolution but others (like Homeland Security) are not. Trump now says it will last past Christmas, which really isn’t a factor as federal offices have been given a holiday on Monday. I don’t see this getting repaired quickly but hope I am wrong.

It may not be a factor for you but for people who are not getting pay checks I suspect it's a huge factor.

This is ridiculous. We can't keep doing this every few months.

It may be hyperbole but I'm beginning to wonder what breach of norms will finally shove this guy off the cliff for some people. Watching him behave in this role is genuinely insane.

The more that he and his family are under legal pressure the crazier this will become.

We are, in my opinion, witnessing some significant history unfold.

Completely agree Nat. I am absolutely baffled how his base continues to support the mad man! His base wanted to lock Hillary up for Benghazi (lying) and they didn't trust her ties to other rich people in the world. But, we have a president who has clearly shown he has shady ties to other rich people. Dump lies at a rate that has never been seen before! He has sexually assaulted women. He is smarter than 4 star generals when it comes to foreign policy. He hired his entire family to help him f-up this country. I could go on but the Eagles are on. I honestly don't understand how anyone would vote for him in 2020. Please, someone let me know why you would vote for Dump in 2020?

The 3 of you should probably not read this. It will not make you happy.

I'll take the bait and say something nice about DJT. He has exposed both sides for the frauds they are.

The Republicans are clearly not a party of moral values and fiscal responsibility. I agree with past comments on here that China probably doesn't play fair when it comes to trade. However, it's also not a good idea to start a trade war with a country you're trillions of dollars in debt to.

The Democrats are in no way the party of peace. I couldn't even find anything from Michael Moore praising the proposed Syria withdrawal (though I'll believe this when I see it). With that said, I do feel awful for the Kurds. How many damn times are we going to screw those poor people?

Just my .02.

And if they keep voting for him after all that, God Bless them. Really, what can you do?

B-Dub, I didn't mean to imply that it wasn't a big deal in the long run because it is. I was simply pointing out that most of these workers were in a 4-day weekend already. Historically, those furloughed get paid after the dust has settled, but we are in uncharted waters. You are correct that those not getting paid now, and this Friday is a payday for them, will be negatively impacted.
