But look on the bright side. We are heading inexorably towards tax increases and/or spending cuts in the future that will make any squabbles about this tax bill look petty in comparison. .

That is probably true. In fact, I don't see how it can't be true.

In other news, the Dow is down over 200 points as of my writing this (at 11:07 AM EST).

Yeh well, it's 30 minutes later and now it's down over 300.

The European markets were all in the red today, some seriously in the red. I don't smell a big comeback this afternoon.

It's like watching Bruce Willis try to drill to 800 feet in Armageddon. Except it's dollars instead of rock in an astroid.

Over 400 down. If Bruce Willis was a trader I bet he could hit 800 by closing time.

It seems to have leveled out at around -400. Tech stocks (Apple, Facebook, etc.) are really taking it in the shorts.

I logged into my Fidelity account to survey the carnage. First I had to remove the crime scene tape that had been wrapped around it. One of my mutual funds with a strong position in tech stocks fell 3% today. Which is nice.

2018 gains are all gone and the 2017 gains are coming into range.

I'd be thrilled at this point to end up with zero growth/loss in my portfolio for the year. -- Me, last week

So much for that. :P

After it bottomed out at over 500 points down, it started to reverse course and start to climb back. It got as "good" as down under 350 ... and then it shot back over 400 down.
