2017 NFL Football Season
Re: 2017 NFL Football Season
I know it's still very early in his career, but Carson Wentz is the real deal. I see 2-3 Super Bowls coming to South Broad Street before he retires as the greatest Eagles QB of all time.

Eagles are the surprise team of NFL for me - I didn't think they had enough around Wentz or the secondary to male these kind of strides this year. To be honest I was hoping they would have another bad year and might be in the Barkley sweepstakes but that won't be happening. I really hope he lands with a decent organization and I'd love to see him on a local team (well other than the Jets).
Please Buddha, please don't let him go to the Browns.

The Giants have no running game. That is more due to the line than the running backs but they may take him if he's there. Right now Giants should have a top 5 pick and I don't see that changing as the season rolls on. I'm hoping they don't win another game, to be honest. A crappy season is a crappy season. Who cares if you have 1 win or 5? 5 is actually worse because you still finish outside the hunt and you get a worse draft position.

It's perverse, but true. There's little/no upside to a mediocre season. The good teams get their reward of playing in the post-season and the awful teams are rewarded with a great draft position. The mediocre teams get screwed.

Good draft position is no guarantee of anything, though. The Browns have great draft position year after year and the Browns suck year after year. The Patriots pick at or near the end of the draft year after year and the Patriots are competitive and the top of at least their division year after year. Good ownership and management trumps draft position every single time. The Giants have great ownership but right now they have somewhere between bad and mediocre management. That may change and I'm hoping there is a new GM in place for the 2018 draft.
I'd rather have the better draft slot, but it may not matter.

I am thinking 10 straight SB starting this year- Joking. BTW, anyone see his Houdini escape last night? That was amazing for him to get the 1st down on a huge play. That probably sealed the win because they scored a TD on the drive

So pretty much the middle class everywhere gets screwed. Good to know there are some things in life you can depend on.

ha ha Shore - man I saw that coming - football the microcosm of American life - too funny.

Well ... sorta ... but even the guy who owns the lowly Browns (James "Thanks dad!" Haslam) is a multi-billionaire.

So Jerry Reese, soon to be erstwhile (I hope) GM of the NY Football Giants, had his bye week presser today. He opened with 'the team bought into all the hype and didn't prepare themselves to win.'
It was all down hill from there.
