I think it will be interesting how these huge contracts start to work out. Wasn't this off season really weird for free agents?? DId they get the money they wanted to get?? I don't follow baseball enough to know how it all turned out.

It's not working out too well for the Mariners. They paid $200M+ to Robinson Cano and not only have they failed to make the playoffs since they signed him but Cano just tested positive for PEDs and is out for 80 games. What a schmuck. He's got a locked in contract until he's 40. It doesn't matter if he sucks now as he never needs to sign another contract again.

As for your other question, the market really collapsed for FAs this year. The vast majority got a lot less than they expected and certainly should have expected based on recent history. There were suggestions of collusion by the owners at some point.

He also just broke a bone in his hand. But the beauty part is that his time on the disabled list counts toward his suspension. So he should be completely healthy when he's eligible to return later this Summer. Isn't that great?

Did he injure punching a wall once he realized he was suspended

He was hit by a pitch. He can probably kiss the HOF goodbye now. But if PEDs helped him earn 200M+ he's probably not going to lose a lot of sleep over that,

I simply cannot get a baseball viewing break this season. Today marks my 3rd attempt to go to a game where weather is a factor. The first one the game was called due to snow. The 2nd game we bailed because it was flurrying and it was 33 degrees out. Screw that. I took today off to head up to Citi and it' s raining. This is the Blue Jays only trip to Queens this season so my guess is they will try to get the game in between rain drops but it's going to be a miserable day for everyone involved and the forecast looks pretty grim. My friend and I just decided to bail on it, eat the ticket costs if they do play (which I think is 50-50 right now) and meet for lunch. At least I have a Wednesday off. But, who do I have to appease to watch some live baseball?

So, my friend and I decided to eat the tickets and not go yesterday. Good call. It rained on the crowed for 3 straight hours and the Mets get clobbered 12 to 1. I was much happier watching that fiasco in the warmth and comfort of my friend's den.

Since starting out 17-2, the Red Sox lapsed into win-one-lose one. But that still leaves them 15 games over .500. The Mets also got off to a great start, but then lapsed into win-one-lose-two. They seem to be falling apart.
