It's not an accident the Reds have sucked for a long time. And, you don't need to be a genius to own a baseball team. You just need to be rich.

The Mets broadcast team are interviewing Johnny Bench and he's doing some impromptu play-by-play. He's the anti-Joe Morgan. Very enjoyable to listen to him talk baseball and give his insights. I wish I could see more of him.

You probably didn't see him play in his prime, but during the fat part of his career (age 21-29) he had no peer at his position. During those 9 years he averaged 30+ HRs and 100+ RBIs, won the GG every year and had 2 MVPs. From age 30 on, he was just a "good" catcher, but his HOF election was already just a formality at that point.

Some times players from a bygone era get interviewed and all they do is talk about how much better it was back in the day and how bad the players are today and blah blah blah. That's a large part of the problem with Joe Morgan. It's not just that he's an awful announcer. He's also a total douchebag and just used his platform to complain and badmouth everything about the changes in the game.

Bench was the opposite of that. He was talking about how much he loves the game, how he keeps up with all the players on the Reds, about their season this year, etc. The Mets have 2 former Reds on the squad - Jay Bruce and Todd Frazier - and Bench was talking about how he was able to catch up with them and how great it was to see them and hear about their families. And, in between he was doing his own version of play-by-play. He just came across as a really great guy and I'm not surprised the Reds seem to be happy to keep him so involved with the organization.

Thankfully he doesn't play for the Phillies. Gabe Kapler would have pulled him after 75 pitches.

Congratulations to him the no-hitter otherwise!

Dylan Bundy di the opposite 0.0 IP, 7 runs, 5 H (4 HRs), 2BB - and that's the Orioles ace. On a bright note slugger Chris Davis hit his first HR (a solo shot naturally) in a couple weeks when they were down by 10.

That's it Shore, I'm out.

Barring an injury, a "no outer" is pretty rare.

The Orioles situation has reached the Totally Ridiculous stage. You should be able to win at least 1/3 of your games by accident. They've won less than 1/4 of theirs. It's like they've just quit trying.

The Mets batted out of order in the first inning today
Kapler has let his pitchers go since opening week as illustrated by Nola going 7 strong last night and throwing over 100 pitches

I am rapidly falling out of love with Mets manager Micky Calloway. He makes a lot of stupid in-game decisions (last night he pinch hit a lefty vs. a lefty with a lefty-killing righty on the bench -- huh?) and they are starting to pile up.

Then today he opened the first by having the Mets bat out of order. C'mon, man. There is zero excuse for that. I did like the dig at the end from the Red twitter account, though.

Edit: Delco beat me to it. Yes, it's embarrassing.
