The NFL actually fired a referee today for poor performance. First time during a season in the "Super Bowl era".

That Derek Carr rumor was the speculation of a brain dead reporter positing his thoughts. Nothing more. FWIW.

Wow. Was it the guy who did the Carolina-Giants game?

Browns fired head coach Hue Jackson. I don't quite get why as he's the winningest coatch they have had in years.

3-36-1 in two and a half seasons. I know they play in a tough division, but damn.

Sweet Merciful Jeezus. That MNF crew makes the game unwatchable. I had to listen to it on the radio. You've got that fakakta Boogermobile going up and down the sideline carrying a knucklehead providing ZERO insight and two more knuckleheads in the booth providing addition blather.

Chris Schenkel must be rolling over in his grave.

I wasn't sure if I it was me and my pissy mood or that they were that annoying. I quit watching midway through the third quarter
Yeah, well, that's like your opinion, man.

I didn't think it was possible, but they are setting a new standard for annoying.

I made a similar comment during the Giants-Falcons game. That MNF crew makes the game nearly unwatchable. I can't believe that is the best they can come up with.

The best was when they had comedian Dennis Miller doing MNF. He used to come up with these obscure references that no one understood and left everyone scratching their heads. At the time there was a woman on NY radio who went by the monkiker "the Radio Chick" and she used to do this bit called "Too Stupid to Watch Monday Night Football". The way it worked was you called in and she read you some reference that Miller made the night before. And, if you couldn't tell her what he was talking about you were labled "Too Stupid to Watch Monday Night Football".

I think Miller lasted a year in that role and he was clearly a bad choice for that job. But, he looks like the best ever compared to the numnuts they have working the booth now.

When you watch the MNF broadcast, it seems pretty clear that ESPN is going under the assumption that the people watching are Complete Idiots. I can't think of a more charitable explanation. I actually find it borderline insulting.

I remember Al DeRogatis doing color commentary for Curt Gowdy in the 1960s/1970s. He would some times go a couple of plays without saying anything because he didn't have anything insightful to offer. You don't need to "break down" a two-yard off-tackle run. But now, it's just a constant barrage of blah-blah-blah-blah-blah. It must be a generational thing. I prefer you shut your pie hole unless you have something insightful to say, but perhaps the 20-something demographic likes/needs the stimulation of non-stop sound. Who knows.

PS - Get off my lawn.
