Yep, that's a mystery. It's almost as if the NFL didn't want to find those videos. Almost.

I find it tough to believe the NFL didn't know those videos existed.

I fully agree.

I think they ask for them as a CYA measure. However, I don't think they exactly pursue getting them.

Who is the source of the video? Is hotel security footage, someone who was present at party or some other hotel guest. I'd say the bigger question is why weren't the police aware of this video - they actually have ability to collect evidence and detain and question people. Based on what I've read they were called to scene and did investigate.

You don't like to see a young person flush their career down the toilet like this but it's hard to have sympathy for the guy when the NFL conducts seminars telling you "don't bring a bunch of chicks you don't know around to get drunk and party", you had level headed friends who were doing everything they could to stop you from being stupid and a report of a second incident (punching guy at a bar) is being reported.

In this day and age you just have the mindset - if I'm having a bad moment in public somebody is filming it and in today's society it's one strike and you're done.

Who is the source of the video?

TMZ released the video. They just said they "obtained" it without indicating from whom. It looked to me like it was shot from a high vantage point (like a wall-mounted camera). TMZ did say that the police obtained hotel surveillance video and submitted it to the local prosecutors (who declined to prosecute). But again, TMZ didn't specify their source. If you made me guess, I'd guess someone with the police or the hotel sold it to them on the sly. But who knows.

There is now almost zero privacy in any public venue. Anything stupid you do is either going to be captured by a surveillance camera or someone's cell phone.

It looks like it came from a hotel surveillance video, which means that either a cop or some hotel employee sold it to TMZ. Surprised that the DA didn't pursue charges. Maybe the woman he kicked declined to push the issue. My guess is there was some kind of payoff/out-of-court settlement.

If I were going to hazard a guess as to what happened here, I'd guess it went down something like this:
- Hunt kicks woman
- police are called
- video is submitted to police, who turn it over to the DA
- Hunt or someone in Hunt's employee contacts woman and offers her cash to just let the whole thing go; she agrees
- DA contacts woman who says she's not pressing charges so DA figures they have no case
- Hunt figures with no prosecution and no witness, he's in the clear and tells a story to the Chiefs about what happened
- Chiefs figure no court case and no witness, they can pretend they don't know what really happened here or just avoid going after the truth and figure all is well
- 9 months or so later that video comes out and Chiefs and NFL decide now they have to actually act, so they act and suspend him.

That's my guess.

You want proof that the NFL colluded against Kaepernick, I give you Exhibit A: Mark Sanchez started for Washington and Kaepernick doesn't have a job.
