Penn State Wrestling Fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my annual season ending update. I will try to send a few updates throughout the summer but this will be the season wrap up. There are many ways to follow our team on Social Media so I will not go into a ton of detail on the specifics of the season as that can all be found very easily now but rather just give a few highlights and thoughts from the year.

What else is there to say besides Wow! What a great finish to an incredible year for these guys. The things that this team accomplished weekly made for a very entertaining year. Some of those things included having arguably the best dual meet team we have ever had at Penn State winning the regular season Big Ten Dual title and the National Championship Dual against Oklahoma State. We sold out all of our Rec Hall matches again and had over 15,000 people in the Bryce Jordan for our match with Lehigh. We had the Big Ten wrestler of the year, Big Ten outstanding wrestler of the tournament, the NCAA’s most dominant wrestler, the NCAA most outstanding wrestler of the tournament, and the Hodge Trophy winner to just name a few of the awards our guys received. We are now not only the first school in NCAA history to have three undefeated National Champions in the same year (2012-Molinaro, Taylor, Ruth) but also the first school to have five National Champions in consecutive weight classes in the same year. Academically we had 15 Academic All-Big Ten honorees, which was the most of any Big Ten team, finished in the top 20 for team GPA, and had three National All-Academic team honorees.

There are many more awards and stats that we could talk about but the bottom line is this team wrestled great every week and most importantly when it really mattered at the NCAA tournament. They did this all while kicking butt in the classroom as well. The most exciting news of all of this is that 7 of our 10 starters were either freshmen or sophomores so we look forward to many more exciting years ahead.

We have shifted our focus to freestyle now and will have several of our college guys along with our Nittany Lion Wrestling Club guys competing in the US Nationals this weekend in Las Vegas. We will also have several of our younger guys competing in the UWW Jr. (17-20yr. olds) Nationals as well. It should be a great weekend and step along the way in making the World Team in June for our guys.

Lastly it is very east to stay humble in the sport of wrestling because you get knocked regularly so we do not take for granted what we have accomplished but are very thankful for the opportunities we have been given. We get reminded often that we still have a lot more we can accomplish. We were recently sitting in a restaurant with a recruit for breakfast and one of our fans came up and said he was super impressed with our season and how awesome it was but said he really wished we would have won the Big Ten Tournament! It is easy to stay humble in wrestling.

Thank you once again for the amazing support this year at home and on the road as you are the best fans in the World.

GO LIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An amazing array of honors, but what impresses most?.....15 All B10 academic honorees. Cale's men are achieving on the mat and off. With all his success, how does he manage to stay so focused and driven to reach higher heights? He is already the stuff of legend with more on the way.
Yeah, know...that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.
