Crazy that a kid that just completed his sophomore year of high school is giving his verbal to a college. How times have changed.

And this kid rushed his verbal, because the nation's top QB, Hunter Johnson, had us in his top two and was going to announce sometime this summer.

Nice to have him on board. Does this impact Hunter's decision at all? He is the top rated passer in the nation and is BIG on psu. He would be our biggest get since Derrick Williams (Hackenberg was a sleeper for a while and his stock exploded late and then more in his freshman year).

It sounds like the staff was upfront with Johnson about wanting 2 QB's in the class, but also sounds like Johnson may not like that Clifford has verballed. PSU and Notre Dame were his top 2 and he was coming to the Lasch Bash this weekend. Now it sounds like he's not sure he's attending (Johnson that is).

At that point, we'll probably have 6 QB's in our 85. There's going to be some heated competition, and the one thing about CJF is that he's not afraid to pull a kid if they're not performing well. Did it a bunch with Vandy...and I'd expect most of the kids will get some looks behind center during their careers.

This kid seems like a good get. 4*.

I'm no recruiting wizard but if the #1 rated (accurately?) QB does verbal the would be impetus for the #2 who has already verbaled to jump ship. He may have noticed the hand writing on the wall and is serving up his preemptive strike with this verbal. The all have to do what is right for their individual situation.

Agreed. It would be odd for the top rated passer in the country to have his decision (even partly) dictated by the commitment of any other QB in his class. But all reports seem to suggest that Clifford's verbal has swung things against PSU. Would be a bummer (especially since that means Notre Dame would land him), but our stable of QBs will be impressive regardless

Yeah - that's not a position I'm losing sleep over right now.

Need some LB's & TE's, I think.
