Spam

Guys

I'm sure you've noticed we're getting hit with a lot of spam lately, mostly in the recruiting forum for who knows what reason.

I'm banning these people and deleting posts as quickly as I can, but there are going to be some lags. Please don't click on these topics and, if you do, I'm sure you all know not to click on any links in there.

If you think I missed one, feel free to report the thread and it will get highlighted to me. But, I think I'm catching all of them.

Sorry about this. I don't know why we are suddenly getting hit so much, but hopefully it's a temporary thing and they get bored and go elsewhere.

I'm starting to preemptively ban people with suspicious email accounts. If you have an email account that ends with .ru instead of .com or .net, you're banned. Apologies to the legions of Russian based PSU fans who want to post here but a few bad apples have ruined it for all of you.

I'd also look into those who post website links in their profiles.

Good idea. The difficulty is I don't always see new members until they post. The solution, unfortunately, ids mostly a reacting to these posts.

Perhaps this case of Stoli in my trunk might change your mind. Plus, I can get you free cable for certain additional considerations.

Isn't that profiling? Diane Feinstein may bring you up on the Senate floor B&W. Tread softly, the anti profiling zealots are roaming randomly across the internet. As long as there is no water-soaking of the profiled you are probably fine, be careful.

A new catagory I'm profiling: if your email address is also an advertisement of some kind, you are preemptively banned. Our newest member had an e-mail like "greattravelideas@spam.com" or something close to that. I see no point in waiting for him or her to post.

B&W...received a PM that looks like it's spam. Odd subject that sender, never seen on the board, wants to download a game for free. Don't know how to delete it...suggestions?

Pappy

You should have a delete option for PMs. Go to the inbox and you'll see a list of PMs. You check the ones you want to delete and hit the delete key.
