Yankees are the heaviest, though. You didn't imagine that.

Not to nitpick, but the Orioles aren't the "tallest team". There's an 11-way tie at 6'2" that includes the Yankees. And the Yankees are the clear leader in poundage. That is one big-ass team.

ANNOUNCER #1: And the Yankees take the field!
ANNOUNCER #2: What is with the Yankees? They look like they're having trouble running. They can't move!
ANNOUNCER #1: It's their uniforms, they're too tight. They're running like penguins! Forget this game!
ANNOUNCER #2: Oh my God, Mattingly just split his pants!

I assumed they rounded when they listed the heights.

And, that was more a quibble than a nitpick.

I'm going tonight. It's going to be a cool 98 at first pitch, and the air is going to be liquid. Can't wait.

2nd inning. 8-1 Cubs.

Jeezus. What did you and lama do to piss off the Baseball Gods?

If the Mets were giving out Newman bobble-heads tonight, I might consider driving down to Queens this afternoon.

Nice game, pretty boy.

Turns out I went to the way wrong Mets-Cubs game. That's ok, I was able to show my Cubs fan colleagues the score off CBS last night during dinner.

Not the same as being there, though.

So, this week the Mets have lost 5 more players the past week, 4 for extended periods of time.

- Matt Harvey has a stress fracture on, of all things, his scapula. He's gone probably a month.
- Neil Walker has a partial tear in his hamstring. He's gone probably 2 months
- Juan Lagares broke his thumb last night diving for a ball last night.
- I'm not sure what's wrong with Asdrubal Cabrera but he's on the DL, probably for sucking.

and finally

Michael Conforto has missed the past 5 games with a back tweak. Rather than put him on the 10 day DL, the Mets have decided to go with a short bench and have him sit there and not be able to play - for 5 freaking games. the Mets own the whole 10 day DL concept. No one manages that better than they do.

Anyway, maybe gmay is on to something. Maybe the Mets are a bunch of wimps. How else do you explain this many injuries? It's unreal. And this is in addition to Cespedes, who is back but still not 100%; Syndergaard, who may not be back this year; Familia, who may be back late season; and Matz and Lugo, who are both finally back after missing the first almost 1/3 of the season.

Also, today marks the 40th anniversary of Tom Terrific clearing out his locker after being traded from the Mets to the f-ing Reds. I hope you'll all join me in a moment of silence to remember this solemn day.
