Sam Ficken was signed by the Rams this week and will be the starting kicker on Sunday. Not a bad deal to be signed by a first place team at the end of the season. Hope he can turn his chance into a long term gig.

Reports that Adam Gress has died. Some sort of accident. He's been out of football since he graduated. I remembered he signed as a free agent with the Giants but I don't think he made it through the summer practices. I was surprised as the guy was just enormous. Was sorry to see this. Not sure what happened, but it sounds like he had a fall.

I read that his fatal injury was the result of a fall. Don't know if it was work related, but I've heard of too many guys lately falling off of ladders (even short ones) at home and getting seriously injured, or worse. Years ago a big-time exec in the company I worked for at the time fell off a stepladder in his basement - how high could that be? - hit his head, and died. It can happen in a flash.

Devon Still has officially retired from the NFL. He's another guy you look at and think about what could have been. His career was somewhat derailed by his daughter's illness. He took time away to care for her.

No idea what his plans are but hopefully he has his daughter for the rest of his life.

They are still in the interview stage, but an article on 247 puts Gary Brown as the lead candidate for the PSU RB's coach. Now that would have him leave the same job he currently has with the Dallas Cowboys, but also rumored to be offering him more money to come to PSU. I hope its OK to post that information from another site, if not, please delete this post.

If at first you don't succeed, give up. There is no hope for you.

And I like that Gary Brown. He had a productive if not spectacular career at Penn State in the '80s and enjoyed several good years with the Houston Oilers if.memory serves. Welcome home Gary Brown.
Yeah, well, that's like your opinion, man.
