We've got a young team. They will get better. But that's the type of loss that trustees remember for a long time.
If at first you don't succeed, give up. There is no hope for you.

Seems the breaks didn't go our way. Maybe I missed the holding calls on MSU. We had enough. And then multiple chances at turnovers.

How much time did Trace give them by going out of bounds? The decision in the OSU game on the illegal forward pass was also costly. Two decisions different and maybe 2 more wins.

Hard to say. They would have called TO. So he basically gave them a TO. I don't recall if they used it. Still a terrible decision. The two dropped INTs were absolutely brutal. And neither required a great catch.

So, we basically lost to an MSU team missing half their starters? Offense was reminiscent of the John Donovan years. Defense couldn't make plays. Too many mistakes all around. Games like these, and patterns across years... Not exactly confidence building.

Two terrible calls that led to 14 points. But have to win this game. McSorley was average today and defense couldnt pick him despite having multiple chances. Ball hits you in stomach that could have ended game. Kind of like Godwin drop last year. Brutal.

This defense cannot get off the field on third down ever it seems. Let drives extend constantly. Just ugly. And it’s a multi year issue that seems to not have improved at all.

Let’s just hope we play well enough the rest of year to not ruin recruiting momentum...

Offensively PSU lost 3 impact players (Barkley, Hamilton, Gesicki) who all have top spots for their positions in the PSU record books - and you're seeing that - on a throw to TE in end zone Gesicki high points and catches it. The offense doesn't have a go to receiver like Hamilton to help sustain possessions on long drives - Johnson and Thompkins have been nearly invisible. Hamler has been your most consistent WR but need more production and playmaking from the position.

As noted the lack of reliable FG kicking changes play calling strategy in opponents territory - as someone note Franklin went for it on a 4th because he doesn't believe his kicker is good beyond 40. Kicker missed one of middle 30 distance. bye bye 6 points.

The defense played solid but mistakes just leave them out there too long and eventually the odds catch up to them. Albiet they were questionable calls one penalty turned a FG into a TD and the penalty with about 3 mins left in half allowed MSU to drive to middle of field and drop ball at PSU 2 yard line - without that penalty PSU gets ball in middle of field with 3 mins and 3 TOs.
Been harping on the inability to convert TO opportunities all year long and it was the final nail in the coffin today.

We can complain about the coaches all day long but the opportunities to make the plays were there - guys just have to start stepping up at critical moments.

Brutal loss, missed interceptions, can't convert to's in tds, missed fgs, not sure how a ball goes backwards with and empty hand and it's an incomplete pass, conservative play calling all adds up.to a loss.

I'd say the concern is - last three years when you've had talent on par with you conference / division upper tier (MSU / UM /OSU) the team is sitting at 3-5 right now (with trip to UM remaining) - 5 of those games were decided in the fourth QT and PSU is 1 - 4 in those games.
