Iowa Thread

Postby Shore Lion » Mon Oct 22, 2018 12:55 pm

Figured I'd kick things off here. Iowa had less than 100 yards passing against Maryland last week. Stanley completed exactly 50% of this throws, all short stuff obviously. So that tells me tackling is going to be huge to limit YAC. They ran for over 200 yards so the D is going to have to step it up and play like they did against OSU.

You know how Iowa's game plan will go. They will try to run a lot, control the clock and stop PSU in the run game. PSU has got to make some downfield passing plays in order to open up the running game. I see this game as either PSU winning comfortably by two scores or it literally coming down to the last minute. PSU has way more team speed, the key is to actually take advantage of it and make some plays.

In regards to Iowa’s last game I did see that Ferentz said after the game that it was the windiest conditions he has ever seen. I believe that probably altered passing stats for both teams.

I hope it doesn't come down to the last minute again. My old age and nerves won't be able to handle it.

Being optimistic here.

We are at home but somehow Iowa is our kryptonite for our offense.
Good guys- 4 (2 safeties)
Bad guys- 2 (1 safety)

I hope it is PSU- 31
Iowa 17

I know nothing about the 2018 Iowa team. But, I think Ferentz is a great coach and I've thought for years that no one gets more with less than Kirk Ferentz. He always plays us tough and I still recall the heroics to get the win last year. Iowa just always plays us tough.

I think PSU should win this game, but I don't take any game against Iowa as a gimme.
Is it football season yet?

Listening to the evil empire (ESPN) they are loving UM and Iowa. This team baffles me which I guess is youth. Lose to MSU, tough game against IN. Sadly I think we have a 50% chance of losing 2 more. Iowa, UM, Wisky...

Ugh. Really???

Had it not been for "all that" this game was the standard bearer for what was said to be the "dark years" era from 2000-2004.

With that said, I'll accept a 4-2 win.

I'll see your 4-2 and raise you a 5-2 with a Marcus Allenesque stick save like FG block on the last play of the game to preserve the win. 5-2 will become a new standard of thrill in the fandom of Nittany Lion World. Not seen on TV, Kirk Ferentz breaks his clipboard over his OC son's head in frustration for calling eight consecutive up the middle runs on 1st down in the 4th quarter as time ran down necessitating the 79-yard field goal attempt, into the wind, up hill, both ways. ;)
So I got that going for me...which is nice. It's a cross between Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent and Northern California Sensimilla so you can play 36 holes on it,take it home at night and get stoned to the begesses belt

Sounds like the weather is going to be a definite factor in the game.
