I believe the payout for victim is far lower for MSU/Nassar because there were so many more than with Sandusky. I'm not saying it is right or wrong, but I did expect MSU to pony up more than they did.

As for the HBO movie, I watched it a few weeks ago. I expected it to be far worse in the anti Paterno aspect than it was. I read the Posnaki book when it came out years ago and felt that he believed Paterno was really unaware of the whole situation. That could be my own bias interfering, however. The movie, with regards to JoePa, seemed to portray more of a lace of awareness of the events as they unfolded after the grand jury report was released and how they family and staff reacted. It also seemed to me to portray our favorite Pulitzer Prize winner in a very positive light, but I believe she was a creative consultant. Again, I have some preconceived notions and biases, so take it for what it's worth...

I just watched the Paterno movie. It really wasn't as bad as some may think it is. I think they did a pretty good job at playing it down the middle.

In the end, other than inmate KT2386, the real culprits were Spanier, Curley and Schultz. If the movie is accurate then Paterno was culpable, just not as culpable as the others (if that makes sense). They also portrayed Joe as a guy who was disconnected from reality and did not fully understand the scope of evil that occurred. It also indicated he really did not want to understand what was going on.

It was worth watching one time. I don't plan to watch it again though. It brought back too many painful memories.

18 pages of final twitches.

That's a lot of twitches.

"Today’s sentencing sends a resoundingly clear message to public officials: If you brandish your power to demean, insult, harass, objectify, and abuse women, you will be held accountable," Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said in a statement.

It appears the dean got whacked for what he DIDN'T do, not for what he did. But let's go with your version. It's more dramatic.

There are now probably a dozen or so stories about women who were raped by MSU atheletes and actively discouraged by employees of the school and even local police to not report it. And then there is that sick story I posted last year about the woman who did report a rape to the cops and was told she had to take her criminal complaint to the athletic department and let them handle it.

Given everything that has come out, I think the judges comments were appropriate. I have no idea what role this one guy played in all this, but Michigan State seemed to have the culture of permitting sexual abuse.

My question is - when does the Big 10 come in and sanction them the way they did PSU?

I completely agree on that sanction part- that is absolute bullshit. It goes to show that the PSU sanctions and the firing of JoePa were a witch hunt! Yes, PSU screwed up a few things but the same could be said about MSU and I have no clue what type of punishment, if any, MSU will face from the NCAA.

I am responding to my own post- I would say that only difference between the PSU scandal and MSU scandal is that the MSU scandal was university wide where at PSU it was only a football issue.

The issue was that Joe Paterno was a MUCH bigger name than Larry Nassar. Thus the media falling over themselves to cover the story and working people into a frenzy. It's the world we live in. As my mom said at the time, we just love to build people up in this country and then tear them down.
