Lion, I went to IUP too! This is not a fib, I needed only credit to graduate college. There was a scuba diving class that was one credit. I called the Professor and BEGGED because it was honestly the only 1 credit course that fit my schedule. I wasn't allowed to take more than 16 credits per semester so I could not just take another 3 credit course. Anywho, it was a sweet class and I got PADI certified.

Onto North Carolina, the NCAA should only investigate things when a competitive advantage is given to a team. To me NC was giving a competitive advantage to their athletes because they were taking shady classes. This meant they were able to recruit people that other school wouldn't be able to recruit and keep. Thus, this gave NC a competitive advantage. That was one reason I hated the NCAA coming down on PSU

Well, G I went for the 84-85 academic year before realizing I was not quite ready for higher education. This was, I assume, a good while before you. The football cheer was “Penn State in 88” because they were a hot shit Div II team; than never came to be, lucky for them. I enjoyed my time but the fit was not right. The swimming instructor taught me a lot about yoga like muscle relaxation and a little about swimming. Had I not taken physics, calculus and chemistry all in my first semester as well, I may have finished!

G, I am trying to watch Gameday from Old Main while I supervise my granddaughter this morning. I swear I saw an “IUP wants PSU” sign in the crowd!

That's funny.

I met a couple gals from IUP when still in school. They were, um, nice.

I was there in 85-85. Some guy, comedian or something, had come through a few years earlier during a college tour and wrote a book rating the schools. IUP came in as the ugliest male (I think) student body. I remember guys wearing bags over their heads to football games. Good times...

Dozens of major programs could be subject to NCAA scrutiny in FBI probe

I can't recall where the other posts on this story were so just putting it here.

This is going to be interesting. It's going to be the big school who are impacted. Will the NCAA be willing to risk the money the tournament brings in by sanctioning the big name schools and leaving a lot of wannabees to take their place? If they don't, how do they defend that?

Going to be interesting watching them bullshit through this.

We will get the old rope a dope treatment. Nothing to see here after a complete investigation EXCEPT FOR the following, Southwest North-central North Dakota State U, Western Illi College, Mississippi Southern Baptist College and THE University of Memphis.

THE Ohio State Univ. was found spotless, as usual. No major cash contributors were found to have any irregularities and in fact were shinning examples of how cash is to be generated for our expansive coffers. The NCAA once again shins forth as the arbiter of all college athletics and any criminal issues they arbitrarily choose.
So I got that going for me...which is nice. It's a cross between Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent and Northern California Sensimilla so you can play 36 holes on it,take it home at night and get stoned to the begesses belt

That was my point. They will significantly dilute the talent pools. That said, all those kids will go elsewhere and some other schools will improve but they will lose the big fan bases.

It's a conundrum that an organization that is not concerned about preserving revenue should not care about. So, the NCAA is probably apoplectic.

The NCAA has stepped down from their mountain top and decreed that no current PSU football player may participate in THON. Apparently the NCAA mandates that all teams have one mandatory day off per week, and our day is Saturday this week. So, you know, a player showing up to support a philanthropic event to raise money for kids suffering from cancer clearly violates the NCAA's mission of maintaining the standards of amateur competition and integrity of student athletics. Fake classes for athletes, however, is well beyond their remit. Any PSU football player who participates in THON will lose their remaining eligibility. However, you'll be pleased to know that any UNC athlete in any sport who receive an A in a no-show class can continue on with their merry day and their integrity and spirit of scholastic achievement safely in tact

And, no, I am not making this up. This shit really just happened.
