Yes. Something is obviously "up".

I've been following baseball for over half a century and I've never seen anything quite like this before. Yes, I've seen teams do poorly after a good year, but I've never seen an entire WS-caliber pitching staff completely fall apart. And there's no sign of improvement, They've lost 3 of their last 4, giving up 9, 8 and 8 runs. And as if the horrific pitching isn't bad enough, now their bats have gone cold. In those 3 recent losses they scored a total of 6 runs. They're not just losing. They're getting their asses kicked. It's like the entire team spent Spring Training playing golf, eating at Popeye's and going to strip clubs.

The manager continues to whistle in the dark. "We just have to play better." No shit, Sherlock.

Where have you been? They give up 8 runs every night. They literally lead MLB in runs against. Their starting rotation is a combined 2-11 with an ERA of 7.61. I check the scores each morning, but I stopped watching 2 weeks ago. You'd have to be a masochist to watch this shit-show.

Not sure what he can really do. And, given that they just won the World Series in his first year as the manager, I suspect that ownership is going to give him ample time to figure it out.

Welcome to Birdland

I don't like Birdland. I feel like Louis Winthorpe III after the Duke brothers pulled the switcheroo. I want my townhouse and man-servant back.

Joey Votton popped out to first yesterday for the first time in his entire career. Guy has 6,827 plate appearances, and only once did he pop out to first. That's really amazing.

What's even more amazing is that there was someone who had that information ready and was instantly able to put a story out about it. One of the things I love about baseball is how you count all the stats and how easy it is to compare players from different eras (as the game has not really changed, although the size, speed and strength of the players surely has), but that is some serious geekdom right there.

My first reaction to the Votto story was....huh?......BFD. But what are the odds of going to bat 6000-plus times without a pop-up to first base? Kinda cool. What amazes me, though, is someone keeps obscure stats like that one. Probably someone who badly needs to find a girl friend. I know guys like that.
Yeah, well, that's like your opinion, man.

I also saw that there is someone on the Mariners (can't now recall who) who has like 97 career homeruns and this week hit is first ever sacrifice fly RBI. That's another thing that you're just like "how does that happen? And, who is tracking this stuff?"

DeGrom to have MRI on throwing elbow

If anyone needs me, I'll be in the kitchen with my head in the oven waiting to light a match.

NY somehow always gets a bunch of pansies to play baseball. They stub their toe they seem to go on the DL.

Also, it does make you wonder why all these Yankees are going on the DL with muscle injuries. It is not like these guys are getting hit by pitch that breaks their finger. It is weird to say the least. I am still sticking with a bunch of pansies
