They're playing two (sold-out) shows at Fenway. I guess they prefer clam chowdah to cheese steaks. My youngest told me that tickets are being scalped on StubHub for $250-300. I don't know the face value.

I paid just over $500 for 2 tickets to 2 shows. So, face is around $125+ through the fan club.

I have a friend who sold 4 tickets to Wrigley and made $500 profit and thinks he could have done better.

Btw, I just checked StubHub and a pair for nosebleeds in Fenway on September 2nd will run about $500.
Alex Cora sucks. Mickey Callaway sucks. Baseball sucks. Everything and everyone just sucks. Is it football season yet?

Jimmy Buffett is playing Fenway tonight. I know psu-dad will be in the front row. ;)

Years ago, police often used repeated playing of the song Margaritaville to elicit confessions from criminal suspects. But then a U.S. Supreme Court decision (Lebowski v City of Malibu) forbade this under the "cruel and unusual punishment" provision of the 8th Amendment.

I believe that's the case where the court told the cops that this isn't 'Nam and there are rules.

Well the Orioles margin for error got smaller over the weekend - got eliminated from division pennant and not sure even if they win out that 77 wins will do it for the Wild Card. On a positive note Chris Davis added to his Golden Sombrero collection.
If I could sum up the Orioles bad roster moves I just look at Nick Markakis and Chris Davis. Four years ago the Orioles didn't want to give NM $10MM a year - didn't feel a guy who always gave over 150 games a year would hit .280 like clockwork, drive in 60-70 runs and be reliable in the field was worth that kind of money (he pretty much was an all around player except for power though he hits a fair number of doubles). They did see fit to throw about $21MM at Davis - whose career numbers were all over the board - there were definitely flash years with high HRs, RBIs and a respectable BA but they were plenty of red flags with missed games, high K rate and low BA.

In the last 2 plus years since the Orioles broke the bank for Davis, NM is hitting about .280, has 241 RBIs, 113 2Bs, 35HRs and 256Ks

Davis is hitting about .199, has 184 RBIs, 45 2Bs, 78HRs, and 562Ks.

I am with the Diamondbacks on a trial basis but after 35 years of rooting for a team that hasn't made it to the WS (and doesn't look like they are headed that way anytime soon) it's time for me to get with a winner.

Based on what I saw this past weekend, the season can't end soon enough for Davis. When he walks to the plate, he looks like a guy who would rather be anywhere else in the world rather than where he is. This guy is not having fun.

I doubt most of us are having a lot of fun at work either - I will bet he is having a bit more fun when he cashes his paycheck then we do.

So either he figures out how to use the entire field, make contact in general, start taking PEDs again or just suck it up buttercup - cause he has about another $85MM to collect.

I don't feel sorry for him, but I think he might need a sports psychologist. His confidence is completely in the toilet. It will be interesting to see what happens if he doesn't improve next year. Do you then pay him to suck again? ... pay him to sit the bench? ... DFA him so he can join the Mets? He has zero trade value unless you eat most of his salary.

The Orioles are not going to compete for a WS next year, so I suppose it doesn't matter.
